La Maison Pacifique

Hello

1. Latest news from La Maison Pacifique

After a long hot summer with many guests enjoying our beautiful property, Mother Nature has bought us some cooling rain.  We are pleased to report that all is well at La Maison Pacifique and whilst there has been some erosion at “our beach”, it is nothing like what is being experienced further up the coast.  La Maison Pacifique and the surrounding areas have held up well and we are all ready to welcome you to for that relaxing break you have been dreaming about.

Local businesses are also ready for your arrival.  On Sunday, we enjoyed a quick bite to eat at the local Sand Bar and Grill.  With a Deli, Bistro and Restaurant and all within walking distance of La Maison Pacifique, it is a great place for anything from a casual coffee and bite to eat to drinks with friends to a beautiful meal.

Their partner restaurant, the Spice Den at Santai (just a little further down the road) looks fantastic too and one that we will be visiting soon.  Make sure you check the restaurant opening times to avoid disappointment.

Our hearts do go out to our northern neighbours, including those in Bundaberg who are again (this week) experiencing more rain.  We have made a donation to our neighbours through the Queensland Floods Appeal and invite all our guests and friends to do the same.

On a happier note, we are in the process of ordering locally produced scented soy candles for all guests.  The scent “Montego Bay” reminds us of the smells of summer and this specially produced, La Maison Pacifique candle will be at La Maison Pacifique for every guest to enjoy.  Feel free to take it with you when you leave as a reminder of your time with us.  You are able to order your own candles and select from a range of scents through Jaabay Candles – we can certainly recommend them.

Other news – you will notice that we now have two new beautiful signs – one each on our front and beachside gates.  This follows on from other improvements we undertook prior to Christmas including essential maintenance (to ensure that our beautiful property is fully maintained to the high standard we are committed to), painting high use areas, installation of a new X-Box into the upstairs living area and an internet-connected t-Hub in the kitchen.

There is an exciting, secret project on the horizon – more about that in the next newsletter.  We have to leave you some surprises!

2. Have you written in our guest book?

All La Maison Pacifique guests are warmly invited to write in our guest book. You can do this through our La Maison Pacifique website Guest Book, direct to info@lamaisonpacifique.com or if you booked through stayz.com.au, through their website. We truly welcome your comments, particularly if you have enjoyed your stay and you can tell other prospective guests about what was a highlight for you and your family.  Additionally, we know that our guests enjoy  tips on what to do locally.

3. Our commitment to the environment

For all guests who have enjoyed our beautiful property, you will have noticed our efforts to reducing our carbon footprint.  This commitment is being ramped up as we seek solutions to reduce our impact on the local environment through reduced energy consumption wherever possible.  We are currently seeking a number of energy efficient solutions and will keep you posted as these are implemented.

4. Northern Rivers Food

Northern Rivers FoodSpeaking of our environmental commitment, a great way to reduce our carbon footprint is to buy locally produced items – our Jaabay Candles are a prime example.  We have recently come across a great new website Northern Rivers Food (and they have a great Northern Rivers Food Facebook Page too with regular updates) which promotes all the local food producers in our area.

There is everything you can imagine on this website and a range of events (including markets) which showcase the wonderful local producers in our area.  If you are looking for organic, home made or a wider range of exotic food choices, this website satisfies us with links to local producers who inspire the secret foodie in all of us.  Be tempted!

Don’t forget that the Taste of Harmony events are occurring around Australia between 18 – 24 March 2013.

5. Casuarina Weddings

We are often asked whether we would consider La Maison Pacifique as an ideal wedding location for couples seeking small, intimate weddings in a beachfront setting.  Whilst we agree that our beautiful property would be perfect, a recently established local business is helping couples create magic on their special day – Casuarina Weddings.  We have been speaking to Kristy Mason at Casuarina Weddings and are confident that she can provide you with everything you need for your special day – including accommodation at La Maison Pacifique.

Given our efforts and focus to offer a peaceful escape to discerning guests looking for a relaxing, luxury, beach front getaway, weddings are not a focus for La Maison Pacifique. Kristy is the person to contact should you wish to consider the Casuarina area for your special day.  Kristy has some great links with local businesses (including specialist producers) so we are confident that she can cater to your every possible need.  She is happy to work with couples to coordinate all their accommodation requirements to0 – including at La Maison Pacifique.

Gold Coast Queensland Australia Information

Gold Coast Queensland Australia Information

The Gold Coast is a coastal city located in the South East of Queensland, Australia. The city is 94 km south of the state capital Brisbane and is in the Gold Coast City Council Area. It is the second most populous city in the state, the sixth most populous city in the country, and the most populous non-capital city in Australia.

The Gold Coast holds the title of the largest cross-state population of any metropolitan area in Australia, due to the inclusion of Tweed Heads, New South Wales in its metropolitan area. The Gold Coast’s metropolitan area converges with that of Greater Brisbane, forming part of an urban conurbation of over 3 million people.

The Gold Coast covers 70 kilometres of uninterrupted beaches from Cabarita Beach (right next to La Maison Pacifique!) in New South Wales north to Beenleigh and beautiful South Stradbroke Island. It includes the beaches of Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Kirra Point and Coolangatta.

While the origin of the city’s name is debatable, the name “Gold Coast” was bestowed upon the city by real estate investors. The first settlement in what is now South East Queensland was as a penal colony at Redcliffe. The Gold Coast region remained largely uninhabited by Europeans until 1823 when explorer John Oxley landed at Mermaid Beach. The hinterland’s red cedar supply attracted people to the area in the mid-19th century. Later in 1875, Southport was surveyed and established and grew a reputation as a secluded holiday destination for upper class Brisbane residents.

The Gold Coast region grew significantly after the establishment of the Surfers Paradise hotel in the late 1920s. The area boomed in the 1980s as a leading tourist destination and in 1994, the Gold Coast City local government area was expanded to encompass the majority of the Gold Coast’s metropolitan area, becoming the second most populous local government area in Australia after the City of Brisbane.

The Gold Coast is a major tourist destination with its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches, canal and waterway systems, its high-rise dominated skyline, theme parks, nightlife, and rainforest hinterland, making tourism one of its most significant industries. Gold Coast will host the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
