The Northern NSW whale watching season officially started on Sunday (1 June) and continues until early November.  There are a plethora of options available to all enthusiasts to enjoy the beauty of the whales as they travel the Eastern coast of Australia as part of their yearly winter migration.

Casuarina Beach allows easy access to both the Byron Bay and the Gold Coast whale watching tours and there are many great opportunities to see the whales up close and personal.  You can also save some time and see the whales as they pass by our beautiful Casuarina beach – out the back gate of our luxury beachfront holiday home.  Seriously, they put on a great show and it is so accessible to all!

Alternatively, take the 30 minute walk to the top of the bluff at Cabarita Beach/Pottsville and watch the whales from up high.  You will avoid the crowds at Byron Bay and from this vantage point, you can also enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from a peaceful, inspiring location, enjoyed at one of the best times of the year.  Take a picnic filled with produce from the local markets and cafes (or get Teaspoon High Tea Events to make one for you!)

Don’t forget to drop into the Cabarita Beach Surf Club on the way home for a quick glass of wine (or a great meal), before wandering back to Flag 19 and your own luxury beachfront holiday home.

Check out the Cabarita Beach surfcam to see the local conditions (any day or time), although if you are keen for a swim/surf consider Salt Village, Kingscliff beach – patrolled 365 days a year!

Alternatively, go online to Northern Rivers Food and seek out local food and beverage producers, retailers, creative chefs and hospitality & catering and taste the many locally produced delicacies and specialties available.
