We love local events and the upcoming week is no exception – the annual Taste of Kingscliff & the Tweed Coast provides a plethora of opportunities to explore our beautiful region, meet the locals and sample what is some of the best produce you will find for miles!  With a range of events – from a free picnic to a Wine and Cheese Night, the Taste of Kingscliff & The Tweed Coast provides one of the best opportunities yet to sample our Coast!

The official opening of the inaugural Taste of Kingscliff and the Tweed Coast is at the Cudgen Leagues Club on Friday 11 July 2014.  The event will be officially opened by Geoff Provest MP and will include lunch, guest speaker and finishing with the cutting of the Cakes By the Moon festival cake.

The lunch will commence at Noon and ticket cost of $45 includes beer, wine and soft drink.    Tickets to this event are strictly limited and must be purchased on-line.  Those wishing to attend can follow the booking link below.

Friday 11 July  6pm      MEMPHIS NIGHT @ Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club    Free Entry

  Step out in those ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ Hound Dogs because ‘I Just Can’t Help Falling In Love’ with Tommy Memphis.  Join in a night of fun with some rockin tunes and a fabulous Memphis inspired menu at Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club.  Entry is free and Tommy is sure to get you on your feet dancing.  Stay tuned for more menu options.

Scoot Airlines TWEED’S BIGGEST PICNIC      Free Entry

Tweed’s Biggest Picnic will feature in Jack Evans Boat Harbour on Saturday 12 July and Sunday 13 July 2014.  Two days of food and fun in the park overlooking the gorgeous harbour on the mighty Tweed River in the heart of the Tweed Heads CBD.  The event will feature a large family picnic area to enjoy the many food options offered by a number of local and visiting food & market traders and stage entertainment from 10am to 4pm each day.

As well as eating there will also be feature displays and demonstrations showing various techniques of how to make, bake and create!  Local and renowned chefs will show off their skills and offer you handy tips and techniques of one of the oldest and loved arts in the world – cooking!  Music and other entertainment will also be on offer as Aria Events and Entertainment present visitors to the event a taste of what the Tweed Shire has to offer and also to bring out that amazing chef in you!

Fabulous food demonstrations on Saturday featuring Ilias The Greek sweets at 2pm @Gozleme World at 3pm.

The morning will be Craig Scott from Tumby Sauce CO – Damien Pigot from Crepes Bretonne and the amazing Debra Allard from Cheeses Loves You making a mozza and cultured butter! Oh yeah!

Monday 14 July  10am      WALK THE WHARF    Free Entry BOOKED OUT

Enjoy a relaxing morning as we wander from the Tweed Marina and gain some insight into our local wharf and fishing industry. Learn a bit about the history of the Tweed River with the Tweed Historical Society and how it all began.  Get a few tips on filleting fish and cleaning crabs from an industry professional.  The walk will finish in Ray Pascoe Park with a cooking demonstration and tasting with local Chef Anthony McCulloch.
This event will begin at Tweed Marina at 2 River Terrace Tweed Heads at 10am.  This is a FREE event and numbers are strictly limited.

 Tuesday 15 July  6.45am  Saltbar Salt Village Business Networking Breakfast – $27.50    

  Join us for a business networking breakfast at Salt Village with a focus on food.  Guest Speakers will deliver talks on product and  business development and insight into growing a business from a small to medium/large business.  Ticket price will include fruit, juice, a hot breakfast, tea & coffee and a Taste Gift Bag.

This is a ticketed event $27.50 per person – no concessions.

Tuesday 15 July  10am  Cakes By The Moon Cake Decorating Class – Free Entry BOOKED OUT

  Would you like to learn some fabulous tips on how to decorate cakes just like a professional?  Well this event offers participants an intimate class in Kathy’s gorgeous cake shop on Marine Parade Kingscliff and the opportunity to enter the world of cake decorating and develop your skills.  This event is absolutely free and includes a gift bag from Cakes By the Moon.   Numbers are strictly limited for this event.

Wednesday 16 July   10.30am    High Tea on the Tweed    $40.00 per person

 Join us for a lovely morning cruising on the Goldern Swan with Tweed Endeavour Cruises  down the mighty Tweed River.  Enjoy a gorgeous high tea by Invitation Cuisine and a lovely relaxing 2 hour river cruise.   High Tea is served on a layered cake stands and is laden with sweet and savoury delicacies. Thursday 17 July 10.30am    Madura Tea Farm Tour and Lunch – Free** BOOKED OUT

  This is a great opportunity to visit our local operating Tea Farm – Madura Tea Estates – and discover the processes involved in growing, producing and distributing tea!  This free tour includes free return bus transfer from Tweed Heads Visitor Information Centre (10.30am) and Kingscliff Visitor Information Centre (10.45am) departing from and returning to the respective Visitor Information Centres, for guests to disperse to one of their favourite Kingscliff & Tweed Coast cafés or restaurants of choice.

The Cinemax Cinema in the Azure Building on Marine Parade Kingscliff welcomes guests to enjoy the Australian premiere of the French drama romance film, A Promise, in their art house movie cinema.  The movie will be preceded by a wine and cheese tasting in the theatre foyer.  Enjoy wines from the Robert Oatley Vineyards and a selection of cheeses from Nimbin Valley Dairy.  The price includes entry for one adult into the theatre and the tasting.  Tickets are strictly limited and sell quite quickly, so get in early to avoid disappointment.  This is an 18 + event.

Thursday 17 July 6pm   Roast & Roll Up Barefoot Bowls at Cudgen Leagues Club – Pay on Night

 Treat yourself to a fun night of bare foot bowls on the green under lights at the Cudgen Leagues Club.  This is a great opportunity to try the game of lawn bowls with family, a group of friends or work colleagues.  Thursday night is Roast Night at the Club, so why not book in for a meal and a game of lawn bowls. Payment for this event is direct to the club and includes $9 for a Roast or $8 for members and green fees of $5 per person.

Friday 18 July   Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club Street Bazaar –  Free Entry

Kingscliff’s Marine Parade will come alive to the public with static and interactive displays of music, art and street entertainment from 5pm into the night.  This is a free family friendly event encouraging local and visiting families to come and enjoy a festive atmosphere on the street and select from the fabulous food options our Kingscliff’s dining precinct has to offer.   2014 will not see a street closure but will offer visitors a taste of what Kingscliff has to offer from Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club bistro and entertainment lounge through to the marvellous Mexican delights at Baja Restaurant.

Saturday 19 July  5.30am arrival    SCOOT LONG TABLE DINNER – $85 per person

  We are very excited to announce the Scoot Long Table Dinner is back in Lion’s Park on Marine Parade in the heart of Kingscliff on Saturday 19 July 2014.  It will be hard to top the menu and entertainment from last year, but organizers promise to deliver what they anticipate will be the ‘must do’ event of 2014 including performances from the Caldera Institute and Murwillumbah Theatre Company.  On-line ticketing is now open and again will be limited seating, so make sure you get in early to secure your table.

Please be aware that seating positions and food requirements are taken at the time of the booking and done by you!  If you wish to sit with your friends you will need to organise your party prior to booking online.  Click here to book!
